James Dean Bully Rescue is in DESPERATE NEED of donations!!!!!!!!!! [Mar. 1st, 2010|07:13 pm]

this is james dean bully rescue -  i'm doing a little volunteering with them and trying to spread the word about their current situation. this is a SMALL rescue that runs on extremely limited funds, which are exacerbated right now due to the current emergency with parvo infected puppies. if you can donate even $1 to help, it would be greatly appreciated and you can be guaranteed that your money is going directly to help these dogs. THANKS!!!!!!

"Please Help!! Donations urgently needed! Rescue needs your assistance.
**Donations URGENTLY needed! Our bill is at $1252.17 and Moby isn't out of ICU yet. And, for those of you that remember Jonah I still owe $500 on his bill. We are on a freeze right now and cannot save any more dogs without some help!!!

Good news: All the treatment seems to be paying off. Moby is doing much better and is more alert and awake, he is finally starting to eat on his own. We are cautiously optimistic he will be able to come home soon. His brothers are on meds for their kennel cough and so far they have managed to stay out of the hospital.

Bad news: This parvo out break has completely DEVASTATED our little rescue. I cannot even begin to explain to you how dire a situation we are in financially.

If you could donate $1.00 that would help a HUGE amount, seriously it really adds up. I really want to sincerely thank all of my friends and contacts that have already been gracious and generous enough to donate. I appreciate it more than words can say.

Without some financial help we will not be able to assist in any more rescues in the foreseeable future. Please forward this to anyone you think might be willing to help.

Also, Moby and his brothers will be available for adoption a few weeks once they are healthy enough to be neutered and vetted. Please contact me if you would like an adoption application.

To donate: http://helpjonah.chipin.com/parvo-pit-puppies If you do donate please check that you are sending it as a gift so paypal does not take out fees. Thanks guys, I owe you.

WARNING: Lame attempt at combining pet and political humor ahead! [Oct. 11th, 2008|06:02 pm]

It's such a good thing we have suburbs, cities and entire states that are attempting (or have, sadly, succeeded in) the bannination of pit bulls.  I guess that means that no one can vote for/agree with/support Sarah Palin.  Isn't that just so sad? :P

*drum lick*

If some don't get it, let me know and I'll explain in zee comments.

No offense meant towards anyone's political stance...just using the media's own words right back at them!

please help [Aug. 9th, 2008|01:01 pm]

[mood |sadsad]

i picked up a stray maltese today. at first i thought he was a ferret cause his tail was so matted he couldn't move it and he wobbles around so much! i was near tears when he hobbled over to me. he still smells after 2 baths. was covered in fleas. i pulled off the bandaids (!?!?!?) and shaved his mats and took him to my vet to see what type of worms he has...whip and tape...so i need to keep him away from my dogs for a couple weeks. he has about 2 rotting teeth left and his tongue hangs out to the side since there is nothing keeping it in, his nails probably haven't been cut in a year they're so scary long! he may even have testicular cancer. one ball is huge and hard and the other one is itty bitty. and he is already following me around! poor trusting pup, i don't see how he can believe i was nice and came up to me on his own with the way he looks!. i really don't have enough nerve for another dog in need. my dog's health problems already keep my nerves on edge, but i couldn't let him wander around! so if anyone is in the cincinnati, ohio area and is willing to take in a very old, toothless and loving shadow please let me know! funny, i just lost my ancient dog almost exactly a year ago and now i have a new one.

Attn: Dog Owners and Dog Lovers [Jan. 3rd, 2008|02:46 am]

Whenever a dog gets medication of any type, stay with it for the next several hours regardless of whether the pet has had that medication before.

This rule was unknown to me until a couple hours ago when a friend's dog had an allergic reaction to her annual shots, which she'd previously gotten with no problem.

Had it not been for the dog's owner's quick thinking and the help of the emergency vet, it would have been a very sad evening.

Please pass this along, it could save the life of a dog and the heart of its owner.

wow, i never knew how much fun having a puppy in the house can be. i love the whining, incontinence and the general fact that anything left around turns into a chew toy, and that's just about me! the puppy is a great little boy that so far hasn't caused any problems. he runs to a certain corner of the room whines and acts like he's got to go, so we run to the door and yell POTTY! and he comes over, runs out and dashes to the same corner of the yard he's been going to and drops his little puppy bomb. what an adorable little guy. Rich brought him to work to meet my co-workers and he was such a show stopper that family members came out of patients rooms when they heard a pupppy was in the house. he got so much attention it was almost overwhelming. but he was such a good sport and never made a sound.

Bulldog pups. [Aug. 22nd, 2007|10:29 pm]

Does anyone know where I can get one in the Columbus area that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I went to Petland on Bethel and the one I feel in love with ended up being close to $4,000!

There has to be someone with either Bulldog puppies or breeds them that is selling them anywhere from $800-$1200.

Any help is much appreciated.

Subject: Lost Dog / Request for Help

I apologize for sending you unsolicited email, and also if you are a
facility that does not take "found" dogs, or dogs at all. However, my
dog has gotten loose, and I am just hoping against all hope that
someone will have any information that can help.

My dog, Jonesy, is a male, neutered, beagle/basset/ coonhound mix.
He's about 50 pounds, approximately 9 years old, red and white -
really just looks like a big red and white beagle. He was on his
tie-out in my back yard Friday, June 29th, at about 6 am. When I went
out shortly thereafter to get him, he was gone and his collar was laid
open and attached to the tie-out - like the clasp had come undone. I
live just off of North High Street in the North Clintonville area of
Columbus. He has a typical hound sense of smell, and hunting
instincts, so he could have run to anywhere.

The next day I got a phone call from a woman who'd seen one of the
signs I put up. She was certain she'd seen my dog, when a young
gentleman stopped in her apartment complex (1.5 blocks from my house)
looking for the owner of a dog he'd picked up on High Street. She saw
the dog in the cab of his truck, and when she saw my sign the next
day, she was certain it was my dog, but she'd not gotten any
information from this man. She knew only that he was a nice, younger
man driving a blue truck, and he seemed to be making a concerted
effort to find the owner of this pet.

Since I have ads up everywhere I can think of, signs up all around the
neighborhood, and have visited the Franklin County Dog Shelter every
other day for the last two weeks, I don't know if this fellow was
perhaps from out of town, or if he took Jonesy somewhere I don't know
to look. OR it wasn't even my dog he had. At any rate, I'm just
hoping that any of my situation might strike a chord in your memory.
I was Jonesy's third or fourth family that I know of, and I've seen
him become a more easy going dog in the 2.5 years he's been with me.
I'm losing my mind without him and am heartbroken to think of him
trying to adjust to yet another new home. Please, please contact me
at mcfadden.amanda@ gmail. com (Remove Spaces) if you have seen my
dog, or know this gentleman who may have picked him up.

Thank you so much.
